About Our Committee
Warwick Playground Dreams is a non-profit made up of a committee of volunteers from all across the town of Warwick who want to rejuvenate the aging playground in Stanley Deming Park. Working together with the Village of Warwick, schools, and the playground designers and building consultants from Play By Design, our plan is to bring a community-designed, community-built ADA-accessible playground to Warwick – one that will stretch the imaginations of all of Warwick’s children while they get the exercise they need to be happy and healthy.
With the hopes of creating an artfully designed playground that the whole community will love, we reached out to our children, their parents and any other interested community members to assist in the playground’s design. This will make it more exciting and user-friendly for all. The visioning process for the new playground took place on April 7, 2017 – Design Day!
Through our Materials and Tools subcommittees, Warwick Playground Dreams is reaching out to and working with individuals, businesses and organizations to collect and organize donated materials to help reduce the amount of money our Fundraising subcommittee will need to raise for our playground’s budget. Our overall goal is to raise $350,000 for the accessible playground. Thanks to our fiscal sponsor the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan, our non-profit group can accept tax deductible gifts which may be made online with sponsorship naming opportunities available for specific pieces of playground equipment. Gifts can also be made anonymously.
Meanwhile, our Volunteer subcommittee is busy at work organizing volunteers for various aspects of our project, including of course our much anticipated Build Week. The culmination of many months of hard work, Build Week will bring parents, grandparents, neighbors and other members of the community together to build with their own hands a special place in the heart of our town where children can chase their dreams as well as their friends. Build Week will be April 22-28, 2019.
Our committee is focused on the upgrade and replacement of aging playground equipment in our town’s parks. If the Stanley Deming project is a success, we hope to set our sights on other playgrounds in the town of Warwick.
